DRESSING FOR WINTER WEATHER

We are noticing that some students are not coming to school with their jacket/coats or warm clothing.  Now that the wintery weather has arrived, please remind children to be sure they have all their belongings before coming to school.  We want to ensure a safe and enjoyable recess for the students.

HOLIDAY KICK-OFF

As we approach the winter holidays, we recognize that students in our community celebrate and recognize a variety of religious, cultural and traditional activities.  In our front foyer, we currently have displays about Christmas, Hanukkah, Yalda, Kwaanza, Las Posadas, Bodhi, and Pancha. If there is something your family recognizes in December that we’ve missed in our foyer display, please let us know!  We want to learn as much as we can about each other to continue to build our warm and caring community.

STUDENT BIRTHDAY RECOGNITION

In 2026 we would like to introduce “Student Birthday Recognition” during our morning announcement. If you do not wish for us to announce your child’s birthday, please let our office know before December 19th.

PARENT MORNING DROP OFF REMINDERS

It has come to our attention that there have been a couple of unsafe maneuvers in our bus/carpool loop at drop off in the morning.  Please follow the directions from our supervising staff to ensure we are keeping all of our students safe.  Proceed slowly through the loop and only allow children to disembark when the staff member signals that it is safe to do so.

We also ask that parents do not reverse or park in the loop at any time. Please patiently wait for the car in front of you to leave.

ENTERING ABSENCES INTO EDSBY

If you are leaving early for the winter holidays, please ensure you enter the absence in EDSBY.

2024/25 EQAO RESULTS UPDATE

Students who participated in EQAO last spring will receive their individual results next week. Please look for the envelope in your child’s bag/communication folder.

HOLIDAY HEROES FOOD DRIVE

We want to make a difference this holiday season and give back to the Thornhill/York Region community. This year we are supporting YRP’s Holiday Heroes Campaign.

We are asking for families to donate non-perishables or grocery gift cards to our food drive, running from November 25th to December 8th 2025.

The donations will be distributed through YRP’s community partners: Salvation ArmyVictim Services of York Region and the York Region Centre for Community Safety.

Below is a message of most needed items.

Monetary and gift cards are the best, as they ensure items needed most can be purchased. Monetary donations also mean families can continue to receive support long after the holiday season.

The need for grocery gift cards is also higher than ever as the cost of groceries continues to rise.

Ideas for babies include, diapers, wipes, food pouches, formula, clothing, blanket and development games.

Thank you in advance for your support.
