P.A. DAY JUNE 25 (afternoon) and JUNE 26, 2026

Our staff will be participating in professional activities on the afternoon of June 25th and for the full day on June 26th.  There will be no school for students during those times.

PLAY DAY

On Monday June 22nd, 2026, Thornhill Public School will be holding an end of the year Play Day.

Play Day will provide students with the opportunity to be a part of an assigned colour group and participate in a variety of small and large groups activities throughout the morning.

All activities have been designed to meet the age, abilities and skill of students.

Each student will be put onto a team with a specific colour.  Students are asked to wear an item of that given colour on June 22ND to show their colour spirit (more information will follow).

As a special treat students will be given Chapman’s Ice Cream (nut-free and kosher) as well as a “dairy-free” option.  Students will be given the option of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or orange sorbet (dairy-free).  If you do not want your child to receive ice cream please inform your child’s teacher no later than June 19th.

We ask that students come to school prepared to participate with the appropriate outfit and supplies (e.g., sun-screen, hat, water, bottle, running shoes) as the entire morning will take place outdoors.  In the event of inclement weather, Play Day will be moved to June 23rd

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

YRDSB MATH SURVEY

Dear Families,

As part of the York Region District School Board’s Math Achievement Action Plan, YRDSB is committed to enhancing student success in mathematics through high-impact instructional practices and resources.

Your input is valuable in helping us better understand how current resources, which may include one or more of the following: practice work, math activities like games and puzzles, books, MathUP, Google Classroom resources, are supporting your child(ren)’s learning at school and at home. Please take a moment to complete this two question Family Feedback Survey on Math Resources (https://ca.research.net/r/mathfamilysurvey) about the math resources available to your child(ren) at home and in the classroom.  Please complete this survey by Friday, June 26, 2026.

Thank you for your continued support.

FAMILY DASHBOARD REPORT CARD ACCESS

Access Report Cards in the Family Dashboard When Available

As we reach the end of the school year, schools will be sharing student report cards by June 30 for elementary schools and July 10 for secondary schools. Report cards will be available in the Family Dashboard until July 30. You will receive an email when your child’s report card is available.

For families who do not yet have a Family Dashboard account, you can sign up for an account at any time at family.yrdsb.ca. You can find information on how to create an account on the Board website or in this instructional video

The Family Dashboard gives parents/guardians secure one-stop access to information and applications related to your child’s education. It is designed to make it easier for families to engage with their child’s education.

Please note, you can still request a printed copy of your child’s report card if you prefer by contacting your child’s school.

As we wrap up the school year, we also want to remind families that it’s important that the school has updated contact information for students and parents/guardians, including home address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contacts. This will ensure that the school can contact families in case of emergency, and also that you continue to receive important communications and updates from the school. Please contact the school directly with any changes.

PUMPKIN GARDEN AND THANK YOU FOR DONATIONS

Many thanks to Courtney and Ainslee, our parent volunteers and school council representatives for a successful TPS Garden Launch!  We have already started growing pumpkins in our new CAJA planters and students have been helping Courtney and Ainslee with weeding the area.  If you/your family are interested in helping to support the garden over the summer, please let us know!

EARLY DISMISSAL -JUNE 25 2026

All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being.  On Thursday, June 25, 2026, an early release day will take place to allow elementary staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day.  These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2026 only.  Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:50 a.m.  Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time.  Families whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
