FALL SPIRIT DAY!

Our Leadership Team will be coordinating a Fall Spirit Day on Friday, October 31st.  To celebrate Fall, students may choose to wear fall colours, including red, yellow, orange and black.  Students are also welcome to dress up in costume (ensuring it aligns with Board expectations below);

  • Not require students to change at school
  • Not include a mask (i.e. that is not the mask normally worn as per COVID-19 protocols)
  • Not include make up that requires reapplication
  • Not include any replica weapons of any kind
  • Be respectful of others. Symbols or objects representative of a person’s culture or religious beliefs should not be worn as a costume.

Students are welcome to bring their own treat to eat as a snack, but there will be no sharing of treats and no class parties. Our Student Leadership team will be coming to classes to lead dance activities for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 and will lead a dance-a-thon in the gym for the Grade 7 and 8.  These activities support our Daily Physical Activity program.

🌟 A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SCHOOL COUNCIL 🌟

Dear Families of Thornhill Public School,

The holiday season is almost here, and with it comes one of our most loved traditions… 🎁 The Great Holiday Basket Auction! 🎁

Each year, our School Council raises funds that directly support your children through:

📱 Upgrading classroom technology (iPads, Chromebooks, etc.)

📚 Inspiring a love of reading with the Forest of Reading program

✨ Enhancing student learning through other enrichment opportunities

🛝 Playground improvements to make recess more exciting and inclusive

🧸 Sensory toys and play items for our Community Classes

This fundraiser makes a HUGE difference in our school community — and we need your help to make it a success! 💛

🧺 How It Works:

From now until Monday, October 27th, we will be collecting brand new, unwrapped donations for your child’s classroom Holiday Basket. Each class has a fun theme (see the list below for ideas ✅), and all donations will be beautifully put together into festive baskets.

➡️ During Parent-Teacher conferences on November 20th & 21st, the baskets will be on display in the library alongside our Book Fair 📖. Families will be able to place bids online, and the highest bidders will take home these incredible themed baskets!

💡 Why Donate?

Your contribution — big or small — helps build a one-of-a-kind basket while directly supporting the programs and tools our students benefit from every day. Plus, it’s a fun way to come together as a community and make the holiday season brighter for all.

🎯 Important Dates to Remember:

  • October 27th → Last day for donations
  • November 20 & 21 → Baskets on display + bidding opens 🖤
  • November 24 → Winners announced & basket pick-up via School Cash Online

🙌 Additional donations (even for other class themes) are always welcome! If you know a local business that would like to contribute, please have them contact Ainslee Hertzberg at ainsleehertzberg@gmail.com.

Thank you, families, for your generosity and school spirit. Together, we can make this fundraiser sparkle ✨ and ensure our students continue to thrive.

With gratitude,

Your Thornhill P.S. School Council 🌸
