Aussie X Movement
We are please to be offering our Grade 4- 8 students with an opportunity for healthy activities with Aussie X Movement on June 12th (Gr. 4-6) and 13th (Gr. 7&8). Aussie X movement will send 2 coaches to engage in a variety of activities in the gym and outside on the field. These activities will support our curriculum, specifically Strand B: Active Living: Active Participation & Physical Fitness and Strand C: Movement Competence: Skills, Concepts, and Strategies of our Health and Physical Education curriculum. There is no cost for our students.
Early Dismissal - June 26, 2025
All schools in the York Region District School Board are committed to improving student achievement and well-being. On Thursday, June 26, 2025, an early release day will take place to allow elementary staff to take part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activities that support student success.
As has been our practice in the past, students will attend school during the morning of Thursday, June 26, 2025 only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:50 a.m. Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are normally bused to and from school will receive transportation at this time. Families whose children attend after school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
P.A. Day Monday, June 9, 2025
Our staff will be participating in professional activities on Monday, June 9th. There will be no school for students that day. If you would like to learn more, please see the agenda for our meetings linked here.
A Message from our Board: Math Survey
Dear Families, As part of the York Region District School Board’s Math Achievement Action Plan, our school is committed to enhancing student success in mathematics through improved teaching strategies, in-class support, and access to resources. Your input is valuable in helping us better understand how current resources are supporting your child’s learning and how we can continue to improve. Please take a moment to complete the 2 question Family Feedback Survey on Math Resources (https://bit.ly/YRDSBFamilyMathSurvey) and share your thoughts on the math resources available to your child to support learning at home and in the classroom. Please complete this survey by Friday, June 6, 2025.

Moving?
Planning on Moving? Each year at this time we begin to plan our staffing and classes for the upcoming school year. It is important for us to know how many students to expect for September at Thornhill P.S. for grades JK to 8. If your children (grades JK to 7) will NOT be returning to our school in the fall, please inform the office as soon as possible
